FORM 6 PGL - BAWDSEY MANOR 2022

Day of Arrival - Monday 25th April

After unpacking it was time for dinner. There was plenty of choice and a delicious cake for dessert.

For our evening activity we had a walk through the grounds of Bawdsey Manor, through secret tunnels and around the terraces with a view of the sea.

We gathered around a campfire where we played games and sang songs until darkness fell.

The children are all happy and enjoying themselves and loved singing around the campfire.

Tomorrow we have Trapeze, Orienteering, Raft building and the Challenge Course.

Day 2 - Tuesday 26th April

After a good night’s sleep and hearty breakfast we split into our groups ready for today’s activities.

First was Trapeze, which involved climbing up a pole and onto a platform right at the top. We then had to leap off the platform, trying to touch a big orange ball, before being lowered gently to the ground by our friends, who were on the other end of the rope. All the children challenged themselves and were amazing. They should be very proud of themselves

Our next activity was orienteering. We had to read a map to find various points around the grounds of Bawdsey Manor and was great fun.

After a hot lunch we started our next fun activity. This was building a raft out of ropes, poles and barrels. Our raft actually floated for longer than we thought it might, but eventually we all got a dunking!

After drying off and putting on warm clothes we went to our final afternoon activity. This was a Challenge Course. This involved climbing through tunnels, over obstacles, under nets and on balance beams, avoiding the ‘lava’ on the floor.

The children are all having great fun and we think they will sleep well tonight!

Day 3 - Wednesday 27th April

We have had another successful day. The children did Rifle Shooting and The Giant Swing this morning - there was plenty of screaming on the swing!

This afternoon the children completed the Jacob’s Ladder and had a Coastal Walk. There was excellent team work on the Jacob’s Ladder, they helped each other up and used muscles they didn’t know they had. We are sure they’ll be aching tomorrow!

This evening they will be Capturing the Flag, may the best team win…

DAY 4 - THURSDAY 28th ARPIL

We have had another packed day. All the children enjoyed whizzing down the zip wire and trying our hand at Archery this morning.

This afternoon we learned exciting survival skills such as building a shelter, starting a fire and how to whittle tent pegs. The sensory trail was great fun and helped build our communication and team building skills.

The children have another team game to look forward to this evening …

DAY 5 - Friday 29th April

We have completed our final two activities. Problem solving and climbing wall. One team aced the problems showing great teamwork and thinking outside the box while the other group found this tricky but worked hard and learned the valuable lesson of co-operation!

We had a chilly climb up the wall but everyone managed to get to the top or challenge themselves to get higher than they thought they could. We finished with races to the top, trying to climb with our eyes closed or not using certain coloured holds. With a final burger to fill us up we are tired, dirty and heading home. We’ve had a great week and will see you soon.
