Dear Parents,
We finally saw a small glimpse of sunshine this week — long may it continue! It has been lovely to see the children enjoying the brighter weather and making the most of their time outdoors.
To start with, yesterday, we were treated to the most wonderful Form 3 Class Assembly to the whole school and also to our lovely parents and grandparents. The theme was based on the rainforest and we were shown some wonderful masks, fantastic animal actions, super poems and songs and the children also their rainforest boxes which they had worked incredibly had on in Art and DT The children excelled themselves and read confidently and shared their learning with both pride and enjoyment to a packed hall. They read with both passion and clarity and it was clear just how much they had enjoyed this topic. A huge thank you to Miss Oxford who puts in so much behind the scenes to ensure such a high standard is maintained in Form 3. It never goes unnoticed and is much appreciated.
I would also like to wish 3 of our children who are making the long journey to Dudley tomorrow to compete in the ISA National Cross Country Championships. What an incredible achievement after qualifying the other week at our ISA Tournament. This is truly remarkable and so thoroughly deserved. Well done to Isabella, Sebastian and Meghan for your hard work, commitment and tenacity that you show each and every time you compete. Enjoy everyone, have fun and enjoy all of your hard work. Good luck and we can’t wait tot hear your results
Finally, please remember that is World Book Day on Thursday. We have some fantastic activities planned for the children already in place including guest speaker at assembly and a themed lunch.

Nursery
Nursery have had a lovely week exploring our topic “Jungle Animals and Patterns.” The children enjoyed looking at a range of animal prints and guessing which animal they belonged to, which sparked lots of conversations and sharing of experiences from recent visits to the zoo.
Our role-play area became a jungle and the children went “camping” in the pod. Using camping gear and binoculars, they explored together and spotted jungle animals that were hiding. They even made their own campfires and “cooked” together. It was lots of fun and a wonderful way to bring the jungle to life!

PRE-Reception
This week the children have enjoyed engaging in a science senses experiment and have been using the different senses touch, smell and taste, we discussed why and how we use the three different senses and used all three in this fun and engaging experiment.
The children were blindfolded and had a go at guessing what fruit/vegetables were in the bowl by firstly using their smell, then touch and lastly taste. A great learning experience had by all and I was very impressed at how many children were willing to have a taste with the blindfold on!

Form 1
This week, Form 1 enjoyed a fun ‘Handa’s Surprise’ fruit tasting session inspired by our English book for this half term. The children explored five delicious fruits: pineapple, mango, banana, tangerine, and avocado. As we tasted the different fruits, we focused on our vocabulary and tried to use some very fantastic adjectives. The children were very keen to try the different fruits and I think we were very surprised by how many we liked. Avocado was our least favourite fruit, but the mango came out on top! It was lovely to hear adjectives such as slippery, slimy and spiky being used in our writing. Well done Form 1.

Form 3
Form 3 certainly made the most of the sunshine this week in our science lesson. We have just started our new topic on plants. We started this week by recapping the different parts of flowering plants and identifying their functions. We headed outside to find these different parts on some beautiful violas- unfortunately, they weren’t as beautiful once we had finished carefully taking them apart! Form 3 then went on a hunt around the school, identifying and carefully sketching various plants. Well done Form 3- a very fun science afternoon!

FOrm 5
This term, Form 5 are busy working on an exciting podcast project in Computing. They have been learning how to use the programme Audacity to record and carefully edit their own audio. The children have shown fantastic creativity and resilience while refining their recordings and improving the quality of their work. They have also explored how to add music and sound effects to enhance their podcasts. Most importantly, they have had great fun bringing their imaginative ideas to life.
