Dear Parents,
It has been another wonderful week with a huge array of events and activities taking place across the school.
The week started with the fantastic Harvest Festival at All Saints Church. The children performed their class songs with such enthusiasm and Form 6 read beautifully. I would like to extend a ‘Thank You’ for all your kind Harvest donations, I know they will be greatly appreciated and for giving so generously to the retiring collection which raised £397.70.
On Thursday and Friday children from Forms 3-6 took part in a number of sporting events, including an ISA Regional Swimming Gala, a Hockey tournament and a girl’s Rugby Tournament. As always, the children who represented the school demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship.
On Friday the whole school enjoyed ‘Inside Out Day’, wearing their uniforms inside out, to recognise World Mental Health Day and Forms 1 & 2 visited Maldon Library. Whilst there, the children discovered how they could find different genres of books in the library and looked at books relating to their class topics.
I hope everyone has a lovely weekend and I look forward to seeing you all next week.

Nursery
This week, Nursery have enjoyed learning and exploring all about Farming and Harvest. This has been a firm favourite with the children, who have thoroughly enjoyed sharing their own experiences from home. We have loved seeing all the photos and videos of farms they have visited, as well as hearing about farms closer to home that are part of their family life.
Our role play zone became a Farm and Farm Shop, where the children harvested crops from the fields before taking their produce to the shop to sell. They have loved getting involved in the whole process through their imaginative play.
We extended our farming theme into our physical and Funky Fingers activities. The children enjoyed collecting fruit and vegetables from around the room and placing them into their own harvest baskets. They also had great fun with a spade activity, carefully picking up real potatoes and placing them into a pot, developing their balance, coordination and control.
We even harvested some real potatoes from our tuff tray! The children were very excited to discover them hiding in the soil and enjoyed tasting them when we roasted them for snack time.

RECEPTION
Reception had a great time at Leeches Garden this week for Welly Wednesday. We had to collect natural materials including twigs, leaves, feathers and pinecones and bring them back to school. We used the natural materials and some pipe cleaners to create some autumn wands. We enjoyed waving them around and used them to cast spells on each other!

FORMs 1 and 2
Forms 1 and 2 had a wonderful morning visiting Maldon Library as part of our X Marks the Spot topic! The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring the library, discovering lots of exciting new books and sharing stories with their friends and teachers. It was lovely to see their enthusiasm for reading as they browsed the shelves and enjoyed books together. The children are already asking when we can go back! Well done, Forms 1 and 2!

FORM 5 - Music
In music this week, Form 5 have been working on their improvisation. We listened to a backing track and thought about the tone of the music. We then worked out which notes ‘belong’ to the key and had a go at using these notes and varying our rhythms. We sat in a circle and took turns to play 8 beats of improvised solo – George coined a phrase – it was an improvisircle! The children did a brilliant job!

Girls Hockey
On Thursday 8th October, girls from Forms 4, 5 and 6, took part in the Essex County Hockey Tournament hosted at Felsted School. Maldon Court showed true grit and determination from the start – achieving a 4-0 win against our first opponents! The girls faced 6 teams in total, which included back-to-back games (with no rest), finishing overall in 4th place! What an incredible achievement! Well done, Maldon Court Girls Hockey Team!

ISA SWIMMING GALA
On Thursday, some of our Form 5/6 swimmers were in action at the Eastern Region ISA Swimming Championships. This is a highly prestigious event, attracting swimmers who compete at national standard.
Our children competed in the freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly before taking part in a thrilling relay. It was a fantastic afternoon of sport, and we are incredibly proud of our swimmers, who stepped up to the challenge and held their own against some exceptionally talented competitors.
The standard of competition was among the highest we have seen in many years, making their performances all the more impressive.
A huge well done to all our swimmers!

GIRLS RUGBY CHampions
Today, our KS2 girls were in action at Maldon Rugby Club’s annual girls’ rugby competition, and what an outstanding day of rugby it was!
Our Year 3/4 team were crowned District Champions, winning every single game! This is an absolutely fantastic achievement, particularly as many of the girls have only been playing rugby at KS2 level for a few weeks. Staff and parents alike were amazed by the progress the girls made as the morning went on. They grew in confidence, developed brilliantly as a team and became a formidable force that simply could not be beaten!
The competition was a wonderful opportunity for the girls to experience rugby at a competitive level, and we could not be more proud of how they rose to the challenge.
Our Year 5/6 team also had an outstanding afternoon, winning all but one of their matches to finish an excellent 3rd place on try difference. They showed tremendous determination, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout, and every single one of them did themselves and the school proud.
A huge well done to all our girls. You were an absolute credit to the school, and we are incredibly proud of you all!
Well done, Team MCPS!
