Dear Parents,
Firstly, I would like to thank everyone for the overwhelming support and positive comments about the new style of the newsletter. It has been a lot of work behind the scenes to facilitate this, but it makes it all worthwhile when we get such lovely comments. Thank you so much.
This week, we have started back with our LAMDA lessons, Toot and Dood lessons and piano lessons. The children have embraced these with their usual enthusiasm, and they are working hard in every aspect. In addition to this, all clubs have started this week and are as popular as always.
We also have a very exciting development to our curriculum which started on Wednesday. This is ‘Welly Wednesday’ and has started in our Reception class. Welly Wednesday is a brand new and innovative initiative which incorporates outdoor learning and Forest schools. Every Wednesday, the children will come armed with their wellies and raincoats to embrace the outdoors and the wonderful learning that can be achieved through this. Wednesday was our very first session and it was a resounding success. The children went to Leeches Garden and enjoyed a thrilling time jumping in puddles and mud and exploring the wildlife. Well done, Reception class. It is fantastic that we are always embracing new ideas to improve the learning experiences for our children.
Congratulations to Holly in Reception who won the Headteacher’s Award this week for always trying her best and completing her work to a very high standard. Congratulations also to Apollo in Form 1 who also won the award for his fantastic efforts over the term and for his excellent effort with his reading. Well done, Holly and Apollo.
Finally, thank you to everyone who supported the Form 4 cake sale this week. Also, thank you for your cooperation with dropping the children off in the morning. There has been a marked improvement with a reduction in car congestion. It is much appreciated and helps towards maintaining the safety of our children.

Stars of the Week
Nursery
This week in Nursery, we have been enjoying our topic Winter.
The children took part in lots of discussions about the weather, temperatures and the different types of weather we experience during the winter months. They were very confident in naming which clothes we need to wear to keep warm and talked about how we can move our bodies to help stay warm too.
Our role-play zone was transformed into a Cosy Café, complete with a hot chocolate stand. The children loved pretending to serve each other warming food and drinks, using lots of imaginative language and teamwork.
We were also incredibly impressed with the children’s artwork and weather charts created at home - thank you for your continued support with these activities.

Reception
Reception enjoyed their first Welly Wednesday session this week. We put on our wellies, hats, scarves and gloves and walked to Leeches Garden. We took a winter scavenger hunt with us to see what we could find. We were very pleased to find holly, berries and, most importantly, a big puddle to splash and stomp through! We also found some large branches and used them to make cosy dens for animals to sleep in during the cold winter. We showed excellent determination and team building skills. It was fantastic hearing the children working together and sharing ideas. We can’t wait for Welly Wednesday next week!

Form 1
In Geography this half term, Form 1 are focusing on the seven continents around the world. Each week, we go on an adventure to a different continent and learn where abouts it is on the map, its countries and their characteristics and features. This week, we went to China! The children absolutely loved the Chinese food tasting session, with the extra challenge of trying to eat with chopsticks! As well as this, the children were tasked to try and write their name in Chinese writing and realised how hard it is. Lastly, we learnt more about Chinese New Year and what their zodiac animals are. We found out that in our class we have the year of the pig or rat! Fantastic learning Form 1, well done!

Form 4
Form 4 has wowed Mrs. Baron with their holiday homework. They were asked to make a musical instrument with which they could change the pitch. They did not disappoint! We had everything from lollypop harmonicas, 3D printed instruments, cardboard guitars to tuned milk bottles and computer coded musical boxes. What a jamming session we had, Maldon Court definitely has talent! It was so lovely to see the pride on everyone’s faces, not just when they had the opportunity to show their creations, but when they happily let others make a tune with them too.

FOrm 6
Form 6 have been inspired by their latest English unit on script writing. The children are captivated by the play - The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse. Outside of their lesson time they have independently been writing new scenes for the play, acting out the play and even practicing some of the songs from the play. It was wonderful today to find a group of Form 6 students in the hall practicing this song, We Are Enough, in their free time. We are so lucky to have such a totally committed class, devoted to their learning.
