Dear Parents,
Welcome back. I hope that you all had a lovely Easter break. It is wonderful to see the children back at school looking so smart in their summer uniform. The children have settled back in to the school routine beautifully and we look forward to a super summer term.
Form 5 have had a very busy start to the term! They have had the most wonderful experience on their residential trip to Fellowship Afloat in Tollesbury. Although we miss the children at school when they are away, the children have had a fantastic time. The activities they have completed include sailing, kayaking, archery, high ropes and of course … lots of food and delicious cake! Thank you to Mrs Dickinson and Ms White who have kindly given up their time to take the children away. We really appreciate it. What brilliant memories for the children that they will remember forever. I am sure that they will sleep very well tonight.
This week we have also had our Form 1 and 2 children excel in their cross country event at St Francis. We competed against 5 other schools over what was a very challenging course. It was wonderful to see how competitive we were and how hard the children worked. The results were fantastic as always and we even got a top 1st, 2nd and 3rd in a race. Congratulations to all of our competitors. We are so proud of you.
In our first celebration assembly of the term, Form Captain and House Captain badges were presented to the children. Congratulations to the selected children. I have no doubt that you will all be excellent ambassadors and role models for your class and throughout the school.
Welcome to Aoibhe who joins us in Nursery this week. It is lovely to have her join her sister Aida who is in Pre Reception. I know that she will flourish in our Nursery setting.
Finally, I wish you all a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing everyone next week. Form 4 will be going to their Danbury Outdoors residential which I know they are very excited about. Have a great time, Form 4.

Nursery
Nursery have had a wonderful first week of the Summer term. We have begun our whole-school Space topic, starting with “Up in the Air”. The children have been exploring what we might find in the skies, including birds, different types of transport such as hot air balloons and aeroplanes, and even spotting some superheroes!
The children have really enjoyed our role play area, pretending to run the newspaper headquarters, The Daily Planet, where they became journalists for the week. They used laptops and notebooks to “write” their stories, enjoying lots of mark making and exploring our ICT equipment.
Alongside this, the children loved dressing up as their favourite superheroes in our Superheroes Headquarters. We talked about how superheroes are kind, helpful, and look after others, which led to some lovely discussions about feelings, personalities, and the importance of being kind and celebrating our differences.

SPACE Day- RECEPTION, FORMS 1 & 2
On Tuesday, we held a Space Day with all our Reception and KS1 children and it truly was out of this world! From the moment the children arrived, it was clear just how much excitement and effort had gone into preparing for this special day. Every child looked fantastic in their space-themed outfits, ranging from brave astronauts to dazzling planets, life size rockets, mission control centres, jet packs and even imaginative aliens UFOs to name but a few. The creativity and enthusiasm on display was absolutely phenomenal, and we couldn’t have asked for anymore. Thank you to parents at home as well for all your efforts in helping the children with their creations.
The day began with our very own Astronaut Training Programme, where the children took part in five exciting missions designed to test their skills and teamwork. First up was our Space Fashion Show, where each child confidently showcased their incredible outfit or creation. It was wonderful to see their personalities shine as they strutted down the runway! Next, the children took part in a Moon Walk Challenge, carefully stepping and bouncing as if they were exploring the surface of the moon. This was followed by learning a fun and energetic space song, which quickly became a favourite as the children sang along with great enthusiasm. We then completed an exciting rocket launch, using diet coke and mentos. To finish the morning missions, the children tackled a thrilling obstacle course of endurance, testing their strength, balance, and determination, just like real astronauts in training! We then spent the afternoon balloon planet painting. The balloons were used to create beautiful, textured prints, they designed their very own colourful planets. The results were fantastic and will make fantastic topic page front covers.
Overall, Space Day was a huge success filled with learning, laughter, and imagination. The children demonstrated fantastic effort, teamwork, and creativity throughout the day. Well done to all our amazing young astronauts for graduating, we are so proud of you!

FORM 4
Form 4 has once again wowed Mrs. Baron with their holiday homework projects. We have watched some amazing stop motion animations, what imaginations and patience they have! We have played games based on looking after our teeth and our digestion and looked at models created to help consolidate the work we did on teeth and digestion. Mrs. Baron could clearly see how much time and effort had been put into this homework and how much Form 4 had learned from their science and computing lessons.

Form 1 and 2 Cross Country
On Wednesday a team of runners from Forms 1 and 2 entered the Maldon School Sports Partnership’s cross country race. This was hosted by St Francis school and the children raced against children from 5 schools, cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd of hundreds of parents. This was a tough course, over 700 m with several hills to climb. It was a fabulous event with some exceptional performances. The Form 2 boys took 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in their race and we were so proud of the perseverance and dedication of every child. Thank you to all the parents who came to cheer us on.
