Dear Parents,
This week we have not let the unduly hot and humid weather deter us and in true Maldon Court style, following the school motto ‘Do it with thy might!’, we have continued with another action packed week.
We rounded last week off with the Summer Soiree, celebrating the performing arts, with over 35 children taking part. The parents were treated to wonderful LAMDA poetry performances, the school Orchestra, piano recitals and several songs from the KS2 Choir. Such a wonderful evening for all who attended.
On Tuesday we held Transition Day, a fantastic opportunity for the children to meet their new teachers and move up to their new classrooms. Walking round, each of the classes, it was lovely to see the enthusiasm and excitement of all the children who are all ready for the new challenges of the next academic year.
Wednesday saw Forms 5 & 6 take on the inter-form Cricket match. Never, in the history of cricket, has a cricket match been taken so seriously, with all the children putting in their best performances. Sadly, it was not to be for Form 5, with Form 6 claiming a comfortable victory!
Finally, this evening, the children will be able to let their hair down and enjoy the school disco. I hope they have a wonderful time and that everyone has a relaxing, and hopefully cooler, weekend.

Nursery
Nursery have enjoyed a wonderful week of choosing their own activities. The children loved taking over the planning and chose lots of exciting experiences to enjoy, including the puppets and puppet theatre, the farm and farm stories, playing with the cars and trikes on the playground, and a beauty and hair salon in the role play area. The children have been busy 'washing' and 'styling' hair and even pretending to paint each other's nails using a wide range of pretend colourful nail polish. On Tuesday, we welcomed our new Nursery 1 children who will be joining us in September, for a Stay and Play session. It was lovely to see everyone and for the children to have a little taste of Nursery. Meanwhile, our Nursery 2 children had a fantastic Transition Day in Pre-Reception. They were very excited to tell us all about the activities they enjoyed in their new classroom with Mrs Kennedy and Miss Hansell. To end the week, we have been making the most of our outside classroom and were delighted to see that the gladiolus bulbs we planted earlier in the year have begun to flower. It has been wonderful for the children to see the results of something they planted and cared for themselves.

RECEPTION
Reception have had a wonderful week in school and enjoyed all of the end of term festivities. On Thursday, the children took part in our annual Form 6 Fun Day. They took part in fantastic games including the floor is lava and an outdoor escape room. It was a wonderful day and the Form 6 children made it very special for us all. On Friday, Reception and Form 6 got together for a Buddy afternoon where they played games, shared memories and ate delicious ice creams.

FORM 4
This week, Form 4 enjoyed starting their greenhouses, the culmination of their DT project from last term, finally the wood has arrived. All fingers are intact, so far, and their sawing and measuring skills are progressing well. They also started LEGO WeDo which is an educational robotics kit designed to teach children coding, engineering, and problem-solving skills through hands-on activities and interactive projects. There were a few teething problems but with perseverance and patience they made good progress.
