Form 1 Colchester Zoo Visit

Form 1 had such a magical day at Colchester Zoo on Tuesday. We started the day by looking around the zoo, we were lucky with how close we got to some animals, especially the lion who was particularly interested in our red hats! We enjoyed seeing the elephants, giraffes and we were all shocked to see the hippo out of water as well. Next, we hopped onto the Lost Madagascar train to see the wolves and flamingos, this is always one of our favourite things to do. After lunch, we met an elf called Sooty who told us lots of interesting facts about Reindeer. He even made us smell their poo! We then got to meet 3 special Reindeer and fed them some of their favourite food. To our surprise, Santa came to visit us and gave us all a very special Reindeer cuddly toy to remember our special day at the zoo. We all had such a magical day full of fun and adventure. Well done Form 1, we are all well and truly in the Christmas spirit now.

Form 5/6 Rugby Tournament

Yesterday we had two teams in action at the Rugby Tournament hosted by the Colchester Blackwater School Sports Partnership. This event attracts the top rugby playing schools from across the Colchester and Maldon Districts. In some tough conditions we were treated to some exceptional standards of rugby. There were nine schools competing and so each team played 8 matches in some pretty tough conditions. We are delighted that one of our teams went unbeaten in all but one of their games, with 6 wins and 1 draw. This was enough to place them as second the whole Colchester and Maldon district. This is an outstanding achievement and we are so proud of the way they played and the determination they showed. Congratulations to all players for representing the school superbly.

Form 4 Science

FORM 4 - This week in science, Form 4 has been investigating how vibrations from sounds travel through a medium to the ear. We started by experimenting with a string telephone and then used that experience to ask and answer questions we could investigate further. We tried different strings, different lengths of string and different cups. Form 4 was a hive of activity; it was lovely to discuss all our findings. We also started a new Health and Wellbeing unit in PSHE. In groups, we found different ways to teach people how to look after their teeth. There was some scary dentist drama and some great songs too.
